OK... my daughter and I have an idea for a book. it will be called "we dream" Our goal is to collect 100 stories and pictures of minors who were brought here by thier family... and now will become illegal at 18 and have no real future.
The kids can use fake names or nick names.

I have a book like this about adopted pets... Each page has a picture and a story. It's a tear jerker.

After reading stories of children on this web page... we thought it would be good to make a book.. put a face with the a story.. and publish it (I can raise money).... then send it to every senator and every congress man.
(700 copies)

Any ideas or feedback?
Has anyone done this before?

(I am a us citizen.. my adopted daughter is 15 and she was born in Mexico.. brought here by her family at age 3. We adopted her and her sister ... and now they are US citizens... but they were lucky, thier freinds are not. That is why I support the dream act.)

This is great ! I know that snapfish does incredibly professional looking books like that pretty easily - my daughter gave me a "family album" for my birthday that looked fantastic - bound, text, you pick the colors, etc. .. I don't know how they compare price wise.

You might want to repost this in the Lounge section - it would get more notice I think.

Tasksgirl is working on something similar, she has bunch of stories and pictures already. We could just send her the publishing info.

Great idea! If we are going to do this, however, it has to be really soon. The senators should get this before Nov. 16, so that it influences their vote.

I have nothing against adopt4passports, I think it's a great idea BUT....

seeing as he only joined two days ago let's exercise a bit of caution before handing over everything. This is after all an internet forum and very few of us actually know each other.

I'm not saying adopt4passports is a troll but just be careful. It doesn't take much to fool people.

To those of us who have this information, keep in mind that you weren't given those things without restrictions. Exercise caution.

hence, my suggestion we have taskgirl carry out the idea and we just collect the publisher's info to give to taskgirl. No offense adopt4pass but you can understand why people in this situation have to be careful.

We should wait to see what Tasksgirl thinks of this before we give her more work. But I agree with J6 also. I mean, we wouldn't be giving last names or anything, but we still have to be careful. It's still a great idea, though, and we should definitely do it.
