WASHINGTON — President Obama will go ahead with a “very significant” executive action on immigration after the summer – a move that may well trigger impeachment proceedings against him, senior Obama adviser Dan Pfeiffer told reporters at a Monitor breakfast Friday.

“The president acting on immigration reform will certainly up the likelihood that [Republicans] would contemplate impeachment at some point,” said Mr. Pfeiffer, who has been at the Obama White House since its inception.

WHAT??!! First it was in June. Then it was August 2nd. Now is the 'end of summer' ?? Wait, Dan Pfeiffer, do you mean September 23rd? Because the end of summer has a date, you know. This has nothing to do with likelihood. You have wasted the entire years with empty promises.

Is this the guy who's been advising the president from the beginning re: immigration? Why didn't this come from Cecilia Munoz?

Flip-flop. Again.

The likelihood has been there since the enactment of DACA - what he will do is exactly the same legal principle, only difference is the amount of people affected. Based on what do you believe that doing it in the fall eliminates the possibility for impeachment?

Congress will be gone for 5 weeks. I'm pretty sure the announcement will be made during that time. Most advocates, lawyers and activist organizations on Twitter have been acting under the assumption that the announcement will be before the end of next month.

No the point is that this is a dangerous dance on his part so it needs to be done correctly and at the right time. We have no idea what's going on behind the scenes.

An August announcement is surely fitting! I believe even DACA was announced in August of 2012, another election year. It's almost as if each party has a political manual/handbook which guides them in playing their politricks. I'm just hoping for work permits for parents of DACA beneficiaries and of course for our older Dreamers as well.
