If this guy lands a job in the DHS, we are doomed.

NEW YORK —
Kansas Secretary of State Kris Kobach is meeting with President-elect Donald Trump.

Kobach arrived Thursday at Trump Tower in New York after Trump's transition team confirmed the scheduled meeting.

Kobach advised Trump's campaign on immigration issues. Kobach is a former law professor who helped draft tough state and local laws cracking down on illegal immigration, including in Arizona and Alabama.

Since Kobach was elected Kansas secretary of state in 2010, he's also been a champion of tough voter identification laws.

Kobach met with Trump in New Jersey before Thanksgiving and brought with him a list of immigration and national security proposals. Kobach was previously considered a potential candidate for attorney general and homeland security secretary.

Kobach spokeswoman Desiree Taliaferro said she has no details about Thursday's meeting with Trump.

So what posts are still left? He will probably be the deputy? What role does the deputy even have?

I know that Trump has kept close to Kobach because of the plans to address the wall issue. I think the wall is a legitimate concern Trump has.

Deputy, my concern is with this guy having all our information at his fingertips. The secretary would focus on the wall and Kobach would focus on internal enforcement. Worst person ever for our cause.

“I’ve spoken with a couple of people close to the transition team,” says Clay Barker, Kansas GOP executive director. “Speculation is he’s being considered for a position in either the Department of Homeland Security or the Office of the Attorney General.”

Horrible guys, horrible. Better be in the office of Attorney General or it's over.

Not good, but at least we know where we stand if this happens. The uncertainty is what is really difficult.

Ultimately no matter who is picked they will follow orders from the boss. I am sure the president will outline what he wants to get done.

If they want to target criminals, then criminals will be targeted. The concern here is that many could fall through the cracks.

Remember there are real obstacles for even Kobach's fantasies to be realized, mainly government bureaucracy. It is slow, inefficient, deportation raids would probably go back to the workplace. As it was during the Bush years.

Im part of the crowd that believes that Trump does not really have many ideas and therefore is picking people with strong options to fill posts. My concern is that this guys goes as far as wanting to strip citizenship from children of illegal immigrants... i sure can tell what his ideas about what to do with us are. I don't care about me, but I do care that now the government has information about my parents because of our applications.

I agree,

But one man does not dictate the entire agenda of an organization as huge as the DHS. The secretary is the one with most power. Trump has appointed many of his opponents and closest allies. There is no use in freaking out about Kobach if he is not head of DHS. Is it bad news? Yeah perhaps, but let's not pretend that everyone is going to get deported because he gets a position. Actually if people with strong opinion are appointed, it makes it all more likely that immigration will be a focus and that it will be tackled, for the better or the worst.

I'm not sure what to make of anything no more. One day we have Ryan and Trump comments that looks good for us and then a day like today we have this.... I wish he would just hold a press conference and lay out his administration immigration policy already. I'm pretty certain they know exactly what their game plan for DACA is going to be. Are we really being played by Trump and Ryan? I honestly think there is movements going on behind the scenes that isn't being made public...
