Seven years later, after a series of low-income jobs and cross-country moves, Violette—who declined to give her last name because she fears being deported—is worried her life in the U.S. is about to come to an end. A special immigration status granted to more than 50,000 Haitians will reportedly be extended by the Trump administration after weeks of protests by Haitian immigrants and advocates, but only for six months, providing little relief to a community whose future has been clouded in uncertainty since the new administration took power.

6 months? Idk. Why does it feel like they're trying to prepare for mass expulsion? And just needed the time to prepare? Or else they would have extended for much longer than 6 months.

Hopefully that's not the case! I'm just assuming it's better than not extending and gives people time to keep advocating.

TPS will either be extended or they will be deported.

This is what the undocumented community needs - what we needed when the Dapa injuction was placed: collective advocacy and pressure. Where are the elected officials and immigration rights activists' collective outcry over the silent raids sweeping the nation? They protest case by case. The Muslim ban was not protested case by case; there was a collective, massive uprise against it. We need to do the same for our communities. We cannot advocate fairly without organized pressure.

Wasn't there some pseudo dreamers here wishing their TPS was terminated? Suck it.
