The Trump administration on Thursday night ended an Obama-era policy that protected undocumented immigrants with children who are U.S. citizens or permanent residents, known as DAPA or Deferred Action for Parents of Americans, according to multiple news reports.

Homeland Security Secretary John Kelly sent a memo to agents Thursday telling them not to follow the Obama-era rule, which was enacted by his predecessor Jeh Johnson in November of 2014.

In a press release, the Department of Homeland Security said that it was ending the DAPA program because there was "no credible path forward to litigate the currently enjoined policy."

before anyone freaks out and says "DACA is next."

look at this bit from the article:

In a press release, the Department of Homeland Security said that it was ending the DAPA program because there was "no credible path forward to litigate the currently enjoined policy."

take that as you may... but DACA has credible paths through viable proposed legislation such as RACA, ENLIST, Bridge.

DAPA was in limbo since the 4-4 tie in SCOTUS anyway.

I came here expecting Chyno and 2Face to be celebrating this but now the rest of you are too which is kind of sad. "It didn't affect us! Yay!"

Expanded DACA also officially died. Also 3 year renewals are no more if you want to make this about yourselves.

^ I added to the title that DACA is ok, so a user doing a quick scan of the headlines doesn't panic.

It's a shame that DAPA/eDACA never went anywhere.

It's unlikely since the I-601A, Provisional Waiver of Unlawful Presence, is a program that is laid out in current immigration regulations. If Trump wants to change this program or eliminate it, he will need to propose a new regulation, have that regulation go through a period of public comment, make adjustments to the regulation, and then have the final version published. This all takes time and effort, but it is possible that he could eliminate this program
