In a statement, DHS said Homeland Security Secretary John Kelly had consulted with Secretary of Labor Alexander Acosta and determined there were not enough “qualified and willing U.S. workers” to fill the needs of businesses.

“Congress gave me the discretionary authority to provide temporary relief to American businesses in danger of suffering irreparable harm due to a lack of available temporary workers,” Kelly said in a statement.
“As a demonstration of the administration’s commitment to supporting American businesses, DHS is providing this one-time increase to the congressionally set annual cap.”

Nice! Corporations drive the government. Hopefully similar cases can be made about 800,000 souls contributing to the economy.

Really? There are 11 millions or more illegals here and you come up with that bs that we can't have qualified workers. And you go ahead and put out 15,000 work visas for someone who doesn't know the culture, probably doesn't love USA, and will constantly brag about his or her country is much better.

Fuck this, deal with people who are illegally first, who are already assimilated and can do that job, rather than bringing people that will probably not assimilate.

How will this benefit us? It will push the Republican party that the undocumented people are worthless and that's why we get people from outside the state.

This is actually bad for the immigration cause. It takes some urgency away from congress to do something.

Probably some shitty field that no one wants to work at. The title continues "for Seasonal Workers", basically H-2B, which are issued for crappy jobs with a time limit and the moment the worker is in United States they'll run off into the sunset.
