Hello everyone. Long time lurker and new member.

I was reading Flake's bill and it said:

"(H) MILITARY SELECTIVE SERVICE.—An alien subject to registration under the Military Selective Service Act (50 U.S.C. App. 451 et seq.) who applies for cancellation of removal or conditional permanent resident status under this paragraph shall provide to the Secretary evidence that the alien has registered that Act."

I am 28 and am not registered for the act. Would I not be able to be eligible for this legislation? My high school and DMV (I live in NYC) never registered me for it. I only found out recently I wasn't on the list and can't register after a certain age.

I registered when I was 25, and It was taking long to get my acknowledgement card, so I tried again, ended up registering twice and getting two cards.

This process has nothing todo with your drivers license, and from what I read you cant get any benefits if you dont register. Can be denied any benefits whatsoever. Such as daca or citizenship, or financial aid, etc.

If I were you I would call selective service directly, or consult with a lawyer, see if you have any options. From what I read not registering is a big deal.

Yeah, I called them and they said I had to send in a letter explaining that I unknowingly didn't register.

Oh wow, apparently I am registered. It was done a week after my birthday last month. It seems my inquiry with them directly a couple of months ago made them just register me outright without the need to send a letter.

Thanks for the information anyway, John_Smith.

They gave me an option to print an official letter of verification.

So if we get drafted and have a removal order... do we get to come back?
