How early can you apply now?

Last time, I applied for renewal a year out. I'd like to do that again this time, but I've heard from others on the discord/reddit that USCIS has been returning applications that are too early now. Does that mean that I'll have to wait for the 150 day mark?

Would like to apply early if I can...the 150 day mark feels like it's cutting it close compared to last time.

What have you guys done?

I always applied close to 150 day mark and usually lost like 3-4 months on my EAD. My renewals most of the time took about 4-5 weeks.

Applied december 2019, was going to expire August 2020. Got card march 2020
