Hey everyone,

Since the Senate is going on a month long recess, I figured I would try to get something together while they're away. I'm not sure if this has been done before, but I'd like to try. I know many of you have already written your senators about your situations and to support the DREAM Act, but I would like compile everyone's story on this forum and send it out to them as one big letter.

I would write a cover letter introducing our situation and such, and all you need to do is write a short (couple of paragraphs) story about how you came here, how old you were, what your current situation is, what your aspirations/dreams are (what it would mean to you if the DREAM Act passes) and either PM me or post a reply to this topic.

I figured if the senators read personal stories we might be able to make a small (or hopefully dramatic) impact on their opinion on the DREAM especially to the senators who are on the fence or are against it. I would like to get as many as possible. Yes, our situations are the same, we are undocumented, but we all have different goals and lives we want to live that I thought would be great for them to know and start to understand what we are going through.

Please include your first name, last name optional and where you currently live. I would send it out Sept. 1st, so it gives us a month to submit our stories. Please write clearly.

Let me know what you think.

I think its good idea, I would be glad to submit my story. But um, how are u going to mail it to all the senators, and does it matter if u are a constituent or not of that state?

it is best if the stories are emailed n it would be good if they don't end up on a allipac style website!

I'll submit my story. Its got a lot of drama, domestic violence and stuff. A real tear-jerker. (Sadly, I'm saying this for real)

Oh well...

Well I was thinking of sending them to their offices in Washington DC by mail because it would be easier for me that way. When you email you have to provide your name and address, and I can't do that for all 50 states. However, after I compile everything I can send it to people on this forum so each of us can then email it to our respective senators.

So when you send me your story, please include your name, state you live in and your username on this site. I will then see what states we live in and send the whole thing to the username you provide so in turn you can send it to your senators. Of course there's going to be people that are from the same state, but I'll just ask one of you to email it then. For the states which don't get represented, I'll send it by mail. Makes sense? I hope hehe.

That's what we need... tear jerker, compassionate stories of desire and willingness to have our voices heard. I agree with Africana, so when you submit the story, just PM me instead of replying to this post. That way ALIPAC can't harrass us.

Excellent idea. I'm not illegal, but my gf is, and I can tell a heartbreaking story indeed.
