First and foremost, sign up for the mailing list to keep abreast news -

Get on the DREAM mailing list by submitting a blank E-Mail to dream.act.portal@gmail.com

(The mailing list may become pointless once everyone signs up for twitter but until then lets keep it alive and for people who are slower with technology)

TWITTER –

http://twitter.com/DreamAct
Twitter – We have created a Twitter for the DREAM Act, handled by the major DREAM Activists around the country – Kyle from Citizen Orange who is organizing at the Ivy Leagues, Juan from SWER in Florida, Matias from the Underground Undergrads at UCLA, Quaker and myself. We’ll add a couple more as the need arises or suggestions float in.

The point of Twitter is to be your best and most updated source on anything and everything related to DREAM and undocumented students. New articles that need commenting, interesting blog posts by DREAMers and allies, petitions, videos, action alerts, news on ICE raids, student deportations and more – all could be easily inputed and spread through Twitter.

So please add us or get an account and keep us as a favorite, as a homepage and/or remember to check daily.

FACEBOOK –
I don’t know why there are so many groups, but this is the largest and fastest growing one so join on –

BAMN (Obama Pass the DREAM Act) - http://www.facebook.com/home.php#/gr...id=49679450803

Another is this - http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=2210249458

And this one by Juan Gomez - http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=13735430009

DIGG -

This isn’t meaningless or a waste of time – Digg is one of the best if not best social networking where we can make sure that news about the DREAM Act gets due attention.

Lets link up !

These are the DREAMers I know on Digg
http://digg.com/users/shatteredverve
http://digg.com/users/DreamActivist
http://digg.com/users/DreamAct

If you have a profile, post here, email or PM. Or create a new one and add everyone on this list as a friend.

If you have a blog, the best way to keep track of this dream network of friends is to post a widget – Go http://digg.com/add-digg and select the last option under Section B. Add the widget to your site and blog. Every time one of us diggs something DREAM and Immigration-relevant, you will know from your widget and can Digg it too without even coming to the site.

I know the spree of social networking sites is a lot to take all at once, but bear with us – it is one of the best tools we have to get the word out and we better use all tools at our disposal. If you have more rocking social networking sites where you are a member and want to promote the DREAM Act, let us know.

In solidarity.

(I’ll be working on this and other DREAM resources at roadrunner speed through December and January when the exams next week are over so stay tuned. Cheers)

I have a request. Can we get a weekly newletter going out to bloggers and siteowners regarding things they should be promoting that week? The news letter shouldn't contain more than 3 stories or calls to action because it's hard to find time to do more than 3 updates or posts a week. Maybe even have a meeting once a month on how to expand our reach and cordinate better online?

The only reason I ask is because I get bombarded with dozens of emails, FB requests, blog posts calling for action everyday. A lot of people have this problem and I never know what to spread because I don't want to spam people because then they won't respond to the important stuff.

That is a REALLY good point. The PMBS especially is full of actions daily, but then again, who is signed up to all these lists? It's the people who are more hardcore generally. The Twitter would let people pick and choose what they want to do on any given day and it doesn't spam anyone's email. (I know I also delete a lot of emails without reading so I get the point)

I can try to reach the bloggers pro-migrant sphere and several with a newsletter on a weekly basis but I don't know how that would be received so I need to check with everyone first as would Mark/Mo who handle the email list.

Right now, the first and foremost call to action is this --
http://www.change.org/ideas/view/pass_the_dream_act_now

Everyone should be promoting that, writing about it, digging it, embedding the cause on their blogs. I'll blog post for the Sanctuary tomorrow to draw more attention to it.

Thanks

Thank you MAG for putting all this info into one easy place!

Do a quick edit though and add a plug for the mailing list.

Get on the DREAM mailing list by submitting a blank E-Mail to dream.act.portal@gmail.com
