I used a made up SSN. Thats why I dont know if I should send the credit bureaus that letter.
Advice???
What you did is fraud. So if someone is working that fake SSN or try to establish credit and are unable, they could launch an investigation and it will pin point at you, in which you can get in trouble.

My sister in law was a victim of identify theft because someone was using her SSN to take out loans and ruined her credit. After she reported being a victim of identity theft, they eventually got the person responsible.

Yes, I used the ITIN. When I sent my letters, I didn't state that I had opened them with an ITIN or tell them the ITIN number. Apparently, it didn't matter for Equifax.

Today I also got a response from Experian, all they wanted was verification of current address on an ID(I'm guessing it's because I haven't lived here that long) and a utility bill with current address. Now I just have to wait for my ID to come in the mail so I can send that.

Experian wasn't able to transfer my credit, but it looks like they had my middle initial wrong, so maybe that's why.

But once you transfer the credit history wouldn't that not be an issue anymore because they're not using her ssn.

Got my credit report now from Experian. They do not disclose SSN on the report, so I was unsure if the new SSN was updated. Also, they kept my mom's maiden name. I called them to delete my mom's maiden name and to verify if my SSN was transfered.
They agent on the phone edited my name and confirmed my SSN, so Experian is good to go.

If you have problems with Experian, I suggest you call them to sort out problems. Also you can view your credit report online (if you have a report number) at www.experian.com/view

Yes, otherwise they'll keep reporting to the old number.

This is my same problem, even though I do have an ITIN number. I have credit cards that I applied for using the SS number which is not fake that I was working with, however, all have been under my real name. I also believe my attorney saying as long as you used your real name you should be ok transferring your credit. The credit I've developed there is good and I would like to transfer that to my new SS if possible.
