some of them yea, some of them no, b/c they are all Americans doesn't mean that they like each other. this nation is divided into Republican and Democrat. you should see them argue on other issues, they kill each other.

Like everything else worth having, passing this legislation will take a lot of hard work and might span more than this congressional session.
We absolutely must look at the DREAM Act campaign as a long term battle.

"Hoping", whenever it implies inaction, will not help us. "This is our year" rhetoric will not help us. Cursing the heavens and screaming "kill the umpire" will not help us. The only thing that will get this legislation to the floor is your hard work.

Find your local groups, join them, bring back your experiences and share. There is no, and there has never been, any other way.
Do it now, while you are still angry at the umpire, because tomorrow there is a danger of being back to "hoping", as it implies inaction.

You'll find all the Racist Citizens in Yahoo Answers, they all get together and bash all the questions asked on "immigration".

this country was built by illegal immigrants. Native Americans never gave a permission to European immigrants to settle in US.

^ if you'd realize, a lot of ali/numbers xenophobes live on the web 24/7 looking for immigration articles or info to spam. Even though it's by a few hundred, it's very effective because it creates this echo chamber giving regular citizens the impression that every American is vehemently against the DA. The best you and I can do is povide the truth in those comments sections to counter all that misinformation.

As for ppl crowing about others venting, it's natural, even warranted. It's frustrating when you have zero control over your destiny, even when you try your best to influence it. Now, what we do next is what's important: vent a lil', cool down, re-focus, and set yourself back on the track we've all been on.

we may yet reach 60 if we can turn a few more senators ..on to the next senator!

yes, it looks like we got 58 senators so and so now. Obama can help convince the Democrats that are on the fence...

Seriously some of you guys are giving up before the debate even starts. In all likelihood, the Dream Act or CIR will be debated in this congressional session. Just take a look at the actual article:

Quote:
But the mood on Capitol Hill could be different.

Jim Manley, senior communications adviser for Sen. Harry Reid, D-Nevada, tells CNN that the majority leader "intends to try to take comprehensive immigration reform to the floor later this year, probably in the fall."

The situation in the House is trickier. A vote on the hot-button issue could hurt freshman Democrats who were elected in swing districts. But House Democrats were presented with compelling evidence that voters want to see them trying to fix the immigration system. During the House Democrats' February retreat, Pete Brodnitz, who works for the same firm that does polling for the president, argued that Democratic House members should promote their own immigration reform plans.

"The downturn in the economy has not weakened the case for comprehensive reform and has the potential to strengthen the case for it," Brodnitz said. He added that Democrats must take a lead because "the problem won't go away as long as the GOP continues to raise it" and that since Democrats run Congress and the White House, that "makes us increasingly accountable for results."
Senate Majority Leader Reid is up for re-election in 2010 and needs the Hispanic vote to win. To do that, he needs to show the folks back home a CIR win or something immigration related, e.g. the Dream Act.

And if you look at the press briefing question:

Quote:
[Q Robert, we know the President is expected to take up -- start looking at immigration reform in the next couple of months, May, June. How hard is the President willing to push to try to keep some, if not all, of these 12 million illegal immigrants in this country here illegally?
Dream will be debated as a stand alone or as an attachment because it's a priority of the President, House Chairs, Senate Majority Leader, and Senate Majority Whip. President Obama will decide if he wants to go with full CIR or if it's not politically feasible this session, he'll go with the Dream Act. No matter how cynical you want to get, Obama does care and Obama does know how the Hispanic vote helped him out tremendously in 2008.

Try reading between the lines before freaking out.

your right, Obama is a good man, he does care about everyone... im proud to have him as my president. for a 1st timer, he has achieved allot.

i think that he wants to talk about a plan for CIR, to give us a sense of direction... as far as Dream Act goes, it is something entirely different. he can bring Dream Act any time.

I completely agree with CIR,I believe we should make the best of the situation & take the chances as they come our way.The only thing we can do is sort out how to best advocate for the bill when those chances arise.
