The moment you realize the 2010 DA filibuster could have been bypassed by one sentence "Mr. President, I ask for the will of the majority to be effective". So called "nuclear option", but order in the 3 ring circus aka the Senate is more important than our lives.

I agree with McCain (for once), CIR is NOT the bill to solve the problem of gay marriage, it's a bill to solve the problem of immigration, besides DOMA will most likely be struck down by Supreme Court sometime soon anyways, kind of a moot point seeing how CIR will likely legalize anyone besides criminals.

I thought about this before, if Liberal Obama comes out and dishes this issue into CIR, then CIR will not pass. Liberal Obama needs to stay away from CIR, one issue at a time please.

LGBT has a Supreme Court ruling coming in June that will effectively give them immigration benefits. Stay away from CIR LGBT please! Don't ruin this for millions of people especially that you'll have your turn 4 months from now.

This is actually a very good way to knock out two birds with a single stone. Gay couples deserve the same right to petition their family outside the country as everyone else. The two issues do not have to be at odds; if reform is truly going to be "comprehensive," then it has to take into account all these very real issues.

Try to extricate yourself from the situation and look at the bigger picture. This isn't just about you.

But, they will be at odds. Republicans will not support a bill that grants any sort of LGBT benefits. And then we'll all be screwed.

Do you honestly think it will ever get through the Congress if it has LGBT amendments?
These are two highly controversial issues. Try to push them together and nothing will pass

Well unlike the 1964 Civil Rights Act where making gender a protected category severely backfired on the conservatives, I really doubt adding support for gay marriage would backfire on them as well, if anything it would just kill CIR.

Bottom line: If you want immigration reform at all - no gay issues in it, just legalize under it like anyone else and if Supreme Court strikes down DOMA then go through a marriage petition, since you can be sure USCIS will allow that.
