I know it sounds crazy but a lot of things happened that made me so late to apply. First, I did not get a reminder from USCIS. I've read people received one and I also read online I was supposed to get one and I did not get it. Ultimately, I know that it is my sole responsibility but time just flew by for me. When I realized I was already late. Then I kept putting it off because I have been unemployed for over a year and I did not have the money nor the enthusiasm to send it off. But then I realized I was becoming one of those people that take everything for granted. Something I told myself I would never do so I got my shit together. I got the money, filled out the application on my own, and sent it off right away. I still thought it was no big deal if I did not get it before my expiration since I was unemployed and no one seemed to want to hire me. I was not thinking about the long term consequences, though. I had been applying for jobs left and right. Little did I know that I would get a job offer after my card expired and little did I know that it would take almost 8 months to get my card. Boy, did I learn my lesson! So, long story short, I fucked up! LOL

I have not received my card yet but it was mailed out according to the USCIS web site. My current EAD expires on 04/08/2017. My renewal expires on 04/08/2019.

I don't know if that's a coincidence but I think that happened to someone else that contacted their congressman and got the same response. I live in Texas so I was hesitant in reaching out but it worked out. It doesn't hurt to try for those still waiting.
What did you send to your congressman for him to contact USCIS ?Was it just an email? If so do you mind sharing the type of verbiage you used to get them to do the inquiry ? I'm looking to do this as i'm 217 days in and still pending approval..

Would appreciate a response from anyone who went down this route.

My latest service request was responded to on 12/23 and all they did was send me a letter saying the due to delays my case is taking longer than expected to process.

--------- yeah double the processing time.... uhhh. my case is as simple as can be and it's just a renewal.

Case received: 5/24/16
Biometrics appt: 7/16/16
Exp: 10/08/16
DACA APPROVAL : TBD
EAD: TBD.

Absolutely. I went online and figured out who my congressman was (this isn't something I used to keep up with, tbh). Under the contact us link I wrote an email explaining my case. Name, receipt numbers and email and phone number. After I sent it, i received an email saying they were going to review my email but if this was a time sensitive subject to contact his office directly. So I called and the secretary emailed me a Privacy Authorization Form. I had to print it out and fill it out and sign it. Within this form there's one full sheet that's for you to explain your situation and state what you would like done. I explained the issue. Talked abt the delays. Spoke abt my job and my expenses. Basically sell yourself. I spoke abt urgency. Provide my receipt numbers again. And emailed it back to the caseworker. That was on 12/19 in the afternoon. I called to be sure they received my email and she told me she would start an inquiry in my name. My case was approved on 12/21. On 12/21 I received a letter from my congressman stating the answer USCIS had given him. Mine said they were doing a background check this was dated for 12/20. So they got an answer the following day. It doesn't hurt to try. Best of luck.

hey just wanted to let you know what i found out after calling like every couple days lol. one of the officers said my case is stuck in the background check step for whatever reason. he said it might be bc you have a common name, if there is a someone with your same name maybe with a record, or even sometimes they pick random cases to look further into.

so looks like we just got the (bad) luck of the draw. mine is pretty straight forward too. my last one was pretty fast. sucks man, especially when I keep seeing people that just sent theirs in getting approved.

i forgot to mention another officer said to expect mine in early January. i have no idea how he knows or if he was just saying that so I would stop calling lol.

anyhow ive tried everything and i still haven't gotten it. not sure what to do now. ill probably keep calling just so i feel like im doin something about it.

thanks for you response. Oh the curse of having one of the most common names in the Hispanic culture . I've actually had trouble one time with a background check before because of so many people with my name. Got cleared up at work really fast though ( when i was applying). My first renewal was a breeze though.

Hopefully that's the case and we get our approval soon... good luck to you ! I'll also keep calling an opening service requests just to have a history of me trying to get this completed...

So, I just checked my USCIS account and for the I-765 it says this
"Card Produced - (Non-DACA)
USCIS has produced your Permanent Resident Card (Green Card) and mailed it to the address you provided."
Did anyone else get this message for their approval?!
