If Trump wanted Kobach for DHS, why the hold-up?

My concern with regard to Pence is that he has proposed a "Touchback Policy" in the past. We're going to need the Dems to stand firmly against that.
The "touchback" policy seemingly floated by the GOP ticket this week could mimic the very proposal Pence laid out in 2006 while serving in Congress. Then-Congressman Pence proposed in a speech to the Heritage Foundation that the U.S. require all undocumented immigrants to return to their native countries but then work through a new guest-worker program to return — within as quickly as a week — to their place of employment.
The only way this is realistic is for us to apply for a guest worker visa and have all documentation allowing us to return PRIOR to leaving the country. Because, we've seen how FBI Background checks hold people when applying for DACA. The last thing you'd want is to be stuck in your home country for 18 months while you're waiting to be let back in via the guest worker program.
I agree, especially with regard to how touchback policy should be handled. Man, if touchback policy is the solution, I hope legislators follow something similar to what you suggested.

Guest worker program implies temporary... This would be unworkable. People would not apply to it.

I think this is a possibility. I doubt it will be the DREAM Act; it has been demonized. It will be a different proposal with a different name.

Trump has not yet mentioned the DACA, not even at rallies, he mentioned the wall several times, but nothing on undocumented immigrants. It is interesting, this is why the right xenophobic wingers are beginning to panic.

lmfao he misled them. Straight up . . . he hinted that he was not going to deport everyone. He even hinted on touchback policy. lmfao

Paul Ryan was like we're not doing all that. Paul Ryan is not here for mass deportations and not legalizing undocumented immigrants. Trump has to conform to the GOP establishment if he wants them to work with him. I honestly feel trump does not care about being president but lining his pockets. I think he was so surprised to actually be wining. I think he'll let himself be a GOP puppet as long as they turn a blind eye and don't impeach him for the conflict of interests that are gonna fill up his families coffers.

I just hope these 4 years go by fast. I sure hate to say this but I hope gas goes back to $5.00 and that the economy tanks. Only that will help reverse the idiotic morons who made him getting elected possible.

Hurting their pockets is the only way they will learn. Apparently the fact that Obama put more money in their pockets was not enough to make them reject the stupid ideas of the past.

Hurt them enough and they will begin to crying, and they will somehow blame their misery on Obama.

I cannot wait to laugh.
