DA User, my political instinct is telling me that S3992 is not the final version. And I'm rarely wrong. :/

The retroactive benefit language is ridiculously non-sense ! LOL

It is a draft and it may not be the final version but as of today it looks like Senate will vote on S3992. It is also not in Thomas.gov because it has not been read twice.

Republicans are right about the langauge and how broad this bill is. We know Democrats are trying to rush this bill. If we are getting more Rep support for S3992 then why not wait till the next Congress and pass a CIR/DA in January? It has Bi-partisan support anyway. Make the bill more stricter but give everyone a chance.

Because we can't wait forever. If we have a chance to pass the DREAM now we should at least try.

First of all, we aren't sure that the Republicans will even tackle any sort of immigration related bills. They will be the majority and they have indicated that they plan to move further to the right on many issues. Secondly, if we keep pushing the DREAM Act back, more people will be left out. I know it's sad that the age limit has been reduced to 29 years, but this is by no means the final bill. Something might change in arbitration.

Why would you say that? Why do you think Reid/Durbin came up with a new bill which is more stricter? Do you think any Republicans have read the new bill yet?

Republicans came up with CIR in 2007 and the bill was strict. House does have majority of Rep but Senate does not. House has no age cap either. I think the Retroactive language in the new bill is mislead.

Yeah, they came up with the CIR in 2007, and they were also the ones who stopped it from passing. You are putting way too much faith in the Republicans. There is absolutely no indication that the plan to pass anything immigration related.

It happened in 1986 though.

I say to Obama 'Don't think it, Just Ink it'

That was over 20 years ago, things change. and Obama has very little say in Republican matters.

If the Economy does not improve then Obama will win in 2012 and Democrats will own the Congress again.
