Los Angeles City Council President Eric Garcetti told reporters afterward that Obama made a compelling case for why he won't let the issue die. Garcetti said Obama also indicated that he would press for a vote a bill to help certain undocumented immigrants attain legal status if they attend college or serve in the military. A similar bill died in Congress last year.

Hmm Facebook COO...interesting. Looking at this list, these people are heavyweights especially Bloomberg. My first guess is that Obama wants to assure all these people on his commitment to immigration reform. I really don't see how this meeting will in any way help in coming up with a plan for an actual bill because. There's clearly no senators or representatives coming. In a real immigration reform meeting, I would expect the following congressmen present: Schumer, Graham, McCain, Kyl, Reid, Boehnor and maybe a few others. I'm praying that this event is not entirely driven by the upcoming election and something good comes out of it.

I think it's about time. This "user" could read the headline, "Meteor to Impact Capitol Building, White House" and he'd still say "this is great news. dream act for sure by the end of the year."

And truth be told, this is actually DA User on his/her best behavior. His/her posts when they changed the eligibility age for DREAM Act were worse. And I think DA User has been banned before but it was like for a week or something. Apparently, he's just annoying, and not problematic, so none of the mods have banned him/her for longer than that.

Gotta hand it to the man for his optimism though. Last time DA was around, there was a vote on the bill. Now he's back..surely something's gotta give some time soon..question is when?

The Congressional Hispanic Caucus commends President Obama for bringing a diverse group of leaders together to lend their support to legislative efforts for comprehensive immigration reform. The CHC has previously suggested to the White House that they create a broad coalition of business leaders, clergy and community leaders who recognize the need for Congress to act, and we hope this group will bring their voices to Capitol Hill. The CHC continues to work with the White House in pursuing much needed immigration reform that is in the best economic interest of our nation. More importantly we look forward to our upcoming meeting with the President to discuss administrative action which can immediately address the most grievous shortcomings of our broken immigration system."

This meeting should be interesting.
