Dude, we could accept that bill temporarily. We could then pressure congress for changes later on.

so we get temp status while some people who exploit u.s immigrant loophole( people who come to u.s just to get married to u.s citizen) can get a green card?. And
these people have been in u.s less than us.
we deserve better than them because we broke no rule.

His bill is predicated on the idea that "You can legalize someone's status," he says, "without placing them on a path toward citizenship."

Currently, there are only a few ways in which current immigration laws do just that. Temporary Protective Status, Temporary Work Permits, and Conditional Permanent Residency all come to mind.

However, Rubio's version seeks to enable potential beneficiaries to apply to college and enlist in the military.

If one enlists in the military, he or she, even by just completing basic training, is eligible to apply for citizenship. It shares the same shortcomings as the ARMS Act which I detailed in this past post.

Most importantly of all is that Rubio's bill would be as this MSNBC article put it, a "DREAM Act without the DREAM." It seeks to make him appear more credible on the political stage given that he hasn't done anything during his term.

The republicans want to limit the current DREAM Act all on the basis that they fear that one day potential DREAM Act beneficiaries will be able to sponsor their family members upon earning their citizenship. In other words, they are upset that DREAMers who become citizens will have the same rights as other citizens. Hence, these watered-down DREAM Act bills seek to create "a newly invented third class status."
This might be off topic. But, you're a fucken pimp. Very well-argued. Kudos.

How about they shelve the Dream Act for now and instead get rid of the 3-10 year bar for all Dreamers? That way people can visit their home countries and apply for student visas, work visas, or so that those that already have pending applications can proceed to adjust their statuses? Or am I asking for too much?

They are actually working on something like that right now. Oboma's administration announced something about that like a month ago. Look it up on google.

I believe the type that the Obama Administration has in mind would only help out immediate relatives of US Citizens such as spouses, parents and children under 21. That's not enough, and not a lot of Dreamers fall into that category.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought if you were designated an immediate relative (parents, unmarried son or daughter under 21, or spouse) you didn't have to leave the US (at least for those who are visa overstays). If that's the case, then wouldn't the ban waivers being completed in advance help EWIs and married sons or daughters of USCs over 21?
