Raise/DA compromise is total genius because each side is giving up something.

That is how you reach a viable deal.

The problem is that the amnesty for all or nothing group will be the most vocal. So they'd rather us lose DACA and go back to the shadows for another 20 years, when legalization may come up again in Congress.

I can already hear Astrid in my head chanting this.

Regardless if this compromise is initiated which seems unlikely because Democrats don't seem to be willing to shut down their large source of voters, immigrants. The two bills DA and the Raise Act will look totally different from what they were intended to look like in the first place due to the amendments that both parties will be pressured to implement.

Again, I'm not looking at this issue from an emotional standpoint, I'm just being realistic. As much as I would like to see this compromise to happen it isn't and if it does, the Dream Act will look way different from what it was originally going to look like.

When they lose DACA and have nothing, these exact same people will come crying to give them Raise/DA compromise.

That is the saddest part.

But by that time, it will be too late.

Greencard Astrid, dont really give a crap about us. She just wants to use us to catapult herself.

With or without future immigrants, Dem voter base will be very strong.

It is such a moot point to say Dems will protect their future voters.

Millennials are overwhelmingly liberal. Dems know this.

Curtailing unskilled legal immigrants will only help the Dem base.

The Democratic voting base is soaring as of now. They lost most of the working class vote and only 37% of Americans think it stands for something while 52% think their agenda is entirely Anti Trump. Outside of coastal areas like the Northeast, California & states like Colorado, New Mexico, etc., they're extremely unpopular.

Yeah, Millenials might be overwhelmingly liberal but not the incoming generation, Generation Z. In fact, they tend to lean towards the Conservative/Independent side and 46% of them who voted from the 83k that were surveyed by the Hispanic Heritage Foundation voted for Trump and 50k of them identified as Republicans.

Just take a peek at YouTube and watch those videos that receive so much popularity & views like "Triggering the Social Justice Warriors" or "Liberal Tears" by conservative channels like Paul Joseph Watson or Milo. It's not old pissed off conservatives that watch them, it's people that are 16-21 aka Generation Z.

So, since the Democratic party is soaring with voters. They can either take two routes. 1. Retain their primary base which is immigrants by rejecting the RAISE Act or 2. Try to get back their working class voting base that was lost to Trump and adopt a different strategy to appeal to voters

I'm technically considered a part of generation z and trust me I can confirm this phenomenon is legit. Might not be apparent in cities like New York or Los Angeles but it's real.
