I am new to this whole political world, but finally realizing after finding out my friend has basically no chance of becoming a citizen, even though he has no memory of Mexico (he was brought over when he was 1), that things need to change. I would like to tell you how I am going to proceed and I hope that all of you will also.

The following is a link to a web site that lists all the members of congress.

http://www.house.gov/house/MemberWWW.shtml

I am writing them a letter. Each one of them. And sending it out once a week for as long as it takes. Hand signed. Updated to tell the newest details in the life of my friend who is forced to be afraid of being deported to a country he knows nothing about.

I suggest we all do the same. Let's make congress realize that it is time to get this taken care of. It has gone on for far too long. While they sit on the DREAM Act, countless lives are being ruined for no good reason.

My call to you:

This will cost us. Financially and emotionally, but if we stay the course, we will win freedom for our friends, mothers, fathers, sisters, brothers, nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and countless others who ache for a better life.

Please, be willing to sacrifice a little of your time and money to make sure that our cause is reached. Let's flood congress' mail boxes with our stories. So much so that they can not ignore us any longer. It will be hard but we can do it. Let's start now. Let's give hope to our friends and family and make it known that the country that they long to be a part of, is the country they've DREAMed of.

Good idea. I thought of this a while ago myself and I think I will join in, Although your list seems really big, this list ( http://www.senate.gov/general/contac...nators_cfm.cfm ) is smaller and might be just as if not more effective.

The two lists refer to the two houses of Congress. The first list will naturally have more members. Its best to send a letter to all 535 members. I believe that its a great idea that you're taking this step. And we welcome you to our forum and appreciate your input and help.

I must warn you to be prepared for a lot of written responses from Members of Congress. At the very least, you'd be creating a headache for your home state Senators and your home district Congress member because most Senators and Congressmen forward constituent letters from non-represented districts to the author's Senators and Representatives.

wow 535? thats alot of letters for one person to send, if we can somehow get everyone on the forum to send a few, and break the list up among us all that would be nice, but i'd imagine something of that nature to be tough to organize.

EDIT: http://wewantdreamact.org/ - If you click on "Support" they have pre-written letter you can just edit and format it your own way if that would make anyones life easier.
