I just had a brilliant idea for major media attention!!!

This Tibetan girl along with some other people protesting to free Tibet from China wrote letters to the UK parliament in their own blood 0_0.

If we can get someone who's is like Phil Hansen-esque and/or make a letter like them to congress or make a drawing/painting that symbolizes us dreamers and what we're willing to contribute to this society we all love so dearly. The opposition views us as leeches and they probably think we're just looking for free pass. On a simple more meaningful note, let's write the Oath of Allegiance in our own blood.

I hereby declare, on oath, that I absolutely and entirely renounce and abjure all allegiance and fidelity to any foreign prince, potentate, state, or sovereignty of whom or which I have heretofore been a subject or citizen; that I will support and defend the Constitution and laws of the United States of America against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; that I will bear arms on behalf of the United States when required by the law; that I will perform noncombatant service in the Armed Forces of the United States when required by the law; that I will perform work of national importance under civilian direction when required by the law; and that I take this obligation freely without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion; so help me God.

This idea may be a bit extreme but I'm sure it will get attention and there's little the opposition can do to question our loyalty.

This is just an idea an throwing out there and I'm down to do this. i just need someone who knows how to draw blood in a safe way haha

I am, if you want attention it's best to go all out. Does my idea seem like bad publicity? 0.o
You can protest and rally all you want but a symbol can conjure up things mere words can never do.

I think it's a little extreme...I was thinking of more of a flood all the major media outlets with our letters and emails and make them cover it in a good way, make them share the struggles and obstacles of undocumented students, who are in that position not because of their own doing ...

Yes, but you fail to realize that a lot of the opposition can give a damn about us not making this mess. They just say "go blame your parents for problems. It's their mess make them clean it." blah blah biddy blah blah. The "pity card" with violin music is so played out. If we want to reach out to locked hearts you need to show them what we're willing to offer for the country. This way we won't need to go to the media because they'll be going to us instead.

Treat it like a job interview. You can't say to the interviewer "be sorry for me I need this job sooooo bad so please hire me." It doesn't exactly work that way, we have to show what we have to offer as a future official Americans.

The blood thing is extreme but of course, we can always tone it down. I'm open for other ideas.

It's far easier to get the attention of local media than the big networks. If you do a quick google search for "dream act" news articles you will see that most come from small, local newspapers or news shows, usually after a DREAM-related event. The more you become involved locally the easier it will be to get that kind of attention, it's about making friends with your local media people.

Also, don't forget about radio, I know that a group from CSUN in southern CA and a group from Santa Cruz each have a radio show or regular radio appearances in their local stations.

Hope that gives you some ideas.

Local Media seems more beneficial to me. Mainstream media gives more negative attention than anything else. Anyone agree? In 2007 fox news blew it up, and told all the crazies to call their senators. The American people deserve to know what's going on, but they wont if fox news is involved

The media only gives attention to sensationalism, and sometimes fashion styles, and other retarded shit. There just like any other television programming, there only objective is high ratings. You turn on the TV now, there's more news about celebrities than any local, national or world issues that actually affect us. It was a good idea, but chances of success in my opinion are very low. Point is, media today, pays little to no attention to real issues, and if by chance they do, its a short clip u can miss by just blinking. Anytime a famous person dies, the media world stops for them, and you cant escape it no matter what channel you flip too. People die everyday, who cares.

Are you sure you want the media to run with this? I'm afraid they're going to say things like "a plan to give amnesty to illegal aliens." People like Lou Dobbs or Bill O'Reilly should not be given ideas about Dream. I think we should call, fax, write to Congress rather than risking the media giving us bad rep with misinformation. They do that a lot.
