the more publicity the better. Sharpton is kind of crazy, but he brings way more exposure. And thats what we need. I write Oprah every year, wish she would jump on the Dream Act. I know we've been trying for years, but I still think we NEED to keep pressing her on it. If we get her, we get a lot of citizens.

I've been at odds with Sharpton in the past, but he seems to be picking the right fights since last year.

While I truly loathe Sharpton and his face on my TV makes me full of rage..this is a good thing to say. Arpaio needs to be put in a jail.

Leave Al Sharpton alone, he's awesome. I saw him on the Ed Show and he gave the Minuteman guy a tongue-lashing.

Minuteman guy: Amnesty will take jobs away from black people ...

Sharpton (paraphrase): Undocumented immigrants from Haiti and other parts of Latin America are black

Minuteman guy: We need to seal the border!

Sharpton (paraphrase): We need to solve the immigration issue and the problem got worse under the Republican's watch

AL Sharpton is a good guy and smart man, I saw him in DC once and I appreciated his thoughts on the ED Show. He is absolutely correct and he would be a good spokesperson( among others) for the dream act because he is always on T.V. He is excellent with soundbytes that T.V loves and he is a true civil rights leader. One of the strategies of the opposition is to make black people hostile to latinos (the face of undocumented immigrants even though black people from haiti, africa and other parts of the world would also be beneficiaries of DA). Al shatters that attempt by advocating that black and brown are on the same team not against eachother.

We should write a letter to AL specifically about the Dream Act so that when he gets on these shows he can bring up the issues students are facing.

He could always end his debates on T.V by saying " What would MLK say about passing the dream act?" which will shatter all doubts that this is not a civil rights issue.
