how can we help pass it when its gonna be part of CIR. its take all or nothing.

OH! when it gets the chance to go as a stand-alone bill in case CIR fails, yes well talk about that when the time comes.

senators that support Dream Act only; don't support CIR
other senators support it only IF its part of CIR, but not when its alone...

confusing much?

but yea the argument is dead, CIR around September/ October.

Another thing, to those of you who have blogs, please make sure you mention this in a post. The fact that the Secretary of Homeland Security supports the DREAM Act is huge and we definitely need everyone to get the word out.

Dude I seriously doubt congress will bring up the Dream Act standalone (before CIR that is) when there are talks of CIR going on. That's the issue. All we can do now is wait and see what happens. It's not up to us to decide if CIR will be debated this year or not. Right now we have to concentrate on gathering more and more momentum for the Dream Act.

Thanks for that excerpt Matias.

Maybe I can print it and whip it out when ICE stops me, and go "look, your boss supports me so git!"

Please don't pull facts out of your ass for the sake of argument. That is precisely what makes this "confusing".

on the main page of DAP, click on to view each senator and how they voted, look at the info that is posted on each senator. an example i could give you is Specter, who said he supports the Dream Act, but he wouldn't vote for it unless its part of a bigger package.

I know that. Did you not see the part in bold? I'm talking about senators who "support the Dream Act only, but are against CIR".

no, the DREAM vs CIR debate is a very important problem that needs to be brought up and discussed and understood instead of being ignored because DREAM is being boggled down by CIR.

case in point? notice how Napolitano openly supports DREAM but skirts around the issue of CIR. i understand the benefits that CIR gets from associating it with the DREAM ACT, but its time to separate the two issues. one is palatable although still highly controversial, the other is downright politically toxic.
