So you know how there used to be 11 Democrats and 8 Republicans in the Judiciary Committee? But with Specter's defection it was widely expected that Republicans would replace him, and Democrats would be forced to kick out their newest member (Kaufman) to make room for Specter.
Well, it seems like Democrats refused to give Republicans the chance to simply replace Specter, and instead kept all of his committee seats, giving them a larger majority in all five of them.
Which means that now there are 12 Democrats and 7 Republicans in the Judiciary Committee, making it more likely for liberal bills to come out of there (i.e. the Dream Act).
