Next month, thousands of students will graduate from high school. I want to send a letter to the senators who oppose or are on the fence on the dream act, but I want to gather some of these students signatures. I live in Anaheim CA and I commit myself to going to as many graduating ceremonies as I can and getting signatures from students who know about and/or will benefit from the dream act. If you want to do something to contribute to passing of the Dream Act, I encourage anyone who can and has the time to do it to do the same. Here is what you need:
1) Find out where and when graduating ceremonies will be held in your neighborhood
2) set up a table outside the graduating ceremony where student/parents passing will see you
3) make a table cover or banner (anything) that shows you are there in regards to the Dream Act (make it easily visible)
4) Write a cover page (meant to be read by the senators) asking for support in the names of the students that are graduating this year (and past years as well). Use your writing skills. Then, just create pages with spaces to students have both print and sign their names.
5) After you are done going to as many graduating ceremonies as you can and getting as many signatures as you can, make copies of them (I know it will cost $ but this is the kind of thing needed to gain support) and send to all senators who are "NAY, LIkELY NAY, or ON THE FENCE".
I would like as many people in as many states and cities to get involved. Pass the word. Let me know if you are going to do it. We could really get a lot of signatures if we work together. THis is your chance to do your part on your own. Let me know please!! This is from Anaheim CA. Where are you going to do it???
