Under the effort, known as Secure Communities, local officials check every set of fingerprints taken at jails against those of people who have had a brush with federal immigration authorities; in the past, they could check only for a criminal history in the F.B.I. database. If a person turns out to be an illegal immigrant, the case is turned over to Immigration and Customs Enforcement for possible deportation proceedings in addition to the criminal charges.

The Obama administration considers the trial program successful enough to pledge $195 million over the next year to expand the effort with an eye toward establishing it nationwide by late 2012, when it is projected to cost about $1 billion a year. It is now under way in 70 counties across the country, including those containing the cities of San Diego, Phoenix, Dallas, Miami and Durham, N.C.

honestly if you are here illegaly and commit crimes, then you deserve to go to jail or deported to your country.

I understand about minor offenses but then again if you know the rules why break them? Well actually I can understand some unnecessary rules.

Driving drunk is so stupid, people who do it are stupid idiots. My opinion only.

There are times that one has to break the law. My pops has to work with a fake social security number so that he can provide for us. While no one is putting a gun to his head, he kind of has to stick to that job as it pays enough for our family to live decently. He knows that he should not break such rules, but he sort of has to. Does that mean that he deserves to get deported?

I do agree with you that people committing certain crimes should be deported. Specifically, drug dealers, rapist, and people with such type of crimes.

I probably should have been more specific. Well no of course he shouldn't.
What I meant was what you said, which I put in green and other unmoral crimes.

You guys are assuming that they fingerprint you for only hardcore crimes. What if you look at some good ol boy with a power trip, a badge and a chip on a shoulder the wrong way? Off your ass goes to jail where you are fingerprinted, you don't need to break any rules to get arrested.
