I was. I think that Nancy Pelosi, regardless of what's been said of her in the media, has conviction.

This site does.

Btw, her being "unabashedly liberal" on health care and other issues doesn't change the fact that she has done nothing to pass the dream act or CIR since she became speaker of the house.

So? That doesn't mean that she isn't ballsy which is what dtrt09 was saying.

And what do you expect her to do, anyway. Bring CIR to a vote? Like that would accomplish anything. Other than giving Fox News hours of material, the bill would just sit there and collect dust until the Senate is ready to work on immigration.

Our focus is DREAM Act, CIR, or both.

Considering which debate is more or less important than the DREAM Act, be it health care or be it illegal deer trafficking, is the politician's job.

Next year they will have a new excuse, a new priority. Will we bend over and take it again or will we focus on our goal - immediate passage of DREAM Act - without consideration for politician's problems?

Don't get distracted. DREAM Act is what we want. DREAM Act is what we focus on. DREAM Act is we what fight for.

Thank god. Unfortunately, I've seen a senator spend floor time talking about it.

This is good news and bad news at the same time. Good news is that immigration will be talked about sometime in 2010, bad news is, dream act won't come up as a stand alone bill. It will be a part of CIR which has a very small chance of passing unless the economy improves SIGNIFICANTLY before that.

The bad news is that this is exactly what we've been hearing every year for the past half-decade. "Sometime soon."

In late 2008 and in 2009 up to this point immigration was to come up "sometime in the Fall of 2009." As of today, it didn't. Moreover, health care is an excellent excuse not to touch immigration with a ten foot pole. Even Sen. Durbin finds it appropriate to use the fact.

It is late 2009 and we are starting to hear "immigration is to come up sometime in 2010." Not to recognize the pattern here is a fatal mistake. They lied to us and they are lying to us again.

Do not call 2010 "our year" as we've been calling 2009 our year, 2007, 2006, 2005, and 2003 before that. Acknowledge that there are no guarantees and the only way to turn DREAM Act law is for all of us to put energy, time, and money into it. By that measure 2010 isn't our year yet.

As far as good news, Sen. Durbin still supports us.
