2- that the bill doesn't come with any 'do or die' provisions like in the past. Basically most of us have been screwed in the past because of the bills being so broad and idealistic that nothing got passed. We may not LOVE all the requirements but learning English is probably easier than being deported if you ask me. Pretty much everything is better than going to a detention center.

3- that they DO get some bipartisan support. The 'Democratic' majority is bullshit because some of the biggest opponents of CIR are conservative Dems and not moderate Reps. Collins and Tester are in different parties - look where they stand. If they alienate Reps in the House they will lose support in the Senate. This has failed before exactly like that.

4- that the focus is on passage and not provisions. Nobody here can wait two years for a more refined version of the bill and its easier to iron out legislative issues through executive policy than sink a whole bill because the water wasn't the perfect temperature.

--------------------------

As I know the House this bill will likely be ridiculous and unacceptable to the Senate but I REALLY wholeheartedly hope that isn't the case. I don't see the Dems having the balls or wits to introduce a compromise bill so it's more likely they will introduce it stillborn. I would rather see a Schumer bill first and my only hope is that this isn't Gutierrez's re-election baby.
True Story.

It's amazing how people tend to forget that even some democrats have conservative views. If it was that easy to get 60 votes, why is the health care bill still stalling in the senate? If undocumented immigrants already have jobs then why do u need the bill passed, Shit, they can just pass a law issuing you a DL license and giving u access to student loans and grants and call it a fix. i don't know about you but I want more, I want to be able to apply for ANY job a native born American can apply for, I want job security.

CIR is tied to the economy in terms of some sense of job security, education, health care, housing and YES welfare ( for those who are disabled or just damn lazy to work). All these factors all impact the economy. If states are cutting budgets in any of these factors now, Obama will need to pull a "rabbit outta the hat" rhetoric to convince Americans that passing CIR is going to benefit them. You may get defensive all u want but it is going to be a very uphill task to pass immigration without any improvement in the economy. I don't even think Obama would introduce it to congress at 10% unemployment. That's just my opinion.

It’s more of an art form really. See, you have to set the mood right —light up some bergamot candles, lean upside-down against a greased-up pole, smother some Aunt Jamima syrup on your gooch, and then proceed to flick away.

Instant orgasm is the name of the game, sexy.
