Oooopss...lol
thanks for the link hun

And yes, it sure is a positive article. It makes me thing of something I've read here in the forum about politicians who are pro-CIR not wanting a lot of publicity on the subject because when it gets too big, negativity starts to accumulate....like health care reform. Maybe Obama purposely left out immigration on his long speech for a reason.
Who knows?!
Of course it was on purpose, but the thing is that no one knows WHAT purpose he had to leave it out xD
We're just hoping it was really for the reasons we're hoping, that Imm. can't have publicity or get out to the general public right now, but we also have to think that Obama also had something else to consider when talking about immigration, and that is how much negative input he'd get from all over the country by people who think Immigration is hardly an important issue right now.
Or maybe he did it for both reasons.

This makes no sense. The issue was heavily debated in 2006-07, and now they will just "quickly and quietly" start passing new legislation all of a sudden? Every other media news concerning immigration is saying how ICE is stepping up enforcement. My own personal friends told me a couple of months ago, that ICE went into a rich suburb of hispanic immigrants and completely destroyed their neighborhood (this is in Virginia). Because so many families got broken up,and people didn't feel comfortable living there anymore, the whole neighborhood is filled with houses for sales and nobody wants them. I am just saying this is the ground reality of immigration. They are INCREASING enforcement and trying to kick everyone out.

Agreed 100%. And no one can dispute these facts because they are all over the news, in print and on the web. The Obama administration has increased the practices of the Bush administration after gaining support by deriding these same tactics. I don't care that is political; you can play politics with things, but should not with PEOPLE. They deported a record number of people in 2009; most of which had as deep ties to this country as we do. Many with US born family. Didn't matter. So this is something that I've been writing about for months as well; all the issues on the table remain the same for CIR and since they've been debated to death (literally) in a world that made sense, they would just pass CIR that would benefit us and the country. But noooooo. If it makes sense, they want nothing to do with it. How stupid. Imagine all the properties that could have been purchased by now if they had legalized the undocumented population back in 2006 and 2007: The real estate bubble was real, but now you would have had millions of potential and eager buyers with years ahead of their working lives. Taxes and revenue would have been collected by now in the dozens of millions. It'll come back and bite them in the ass, we'll see.

I'm expecting a bill to be rolled out within the next couple of weeks!!
Is your name Pollyanna by any chance?

Na lol, just trying to be optimistic. We should all be glad that those 36 words were at least mentioned by Obama. We were not forgotten and I'm sure he will follow it up with some action. It is only a matter of when since this is is an election issue. Hopefully Congress will not delay and get things going asap.

That makes sense, though. As bad as it sounds, the government IS playing politics with people and families, because that is what they need to do... don't ask me why, I don't know either. They just do it.
The reason why Obama continued with the deportations and ICE is increasing enforcement, is because they want as many undocumented people as possible out of the country before they pass a legalization-friendly reform. I heard (NOT a proven fact, I just heard) that the government was actually thinking about pushing immigration reform further down the road, and increase enforcement of the current laws, just so they could lower the undocumented count by a lot, before they passed reform... say 8 to 10 million? As opposed to 12+ million.
They always knew that deportation of EVERY single undocumented person is ridiculous and unrealistic, but now they probably realized that if they wait longer it will just make matters worse in some way, and that's why they're trying to pass reform sooner. That still won't stop them, though, from deporting as many people as they can before mass legalization.
