I am really excited that immigration is picking up a lot of steam right now. We need this to pass, strike while the iron is hot. With this Arizona issue in place the iron is really hot. At the same time I sympathize with Dukem88 because in 2006 the moment was there for reform with HR 4437 and nothing but ripples in the pond resulted. We need waves!

As for telling your significant other your status you must be honest! A relationship is based on honesty. I was with my boyfriend, for I think about a week before I had to tell him the truth. I was scared that he wouldn't understand--but I was wrong. If that person loves you, then they have to--they should. Dang I can't believe some of you have been able to hide it for years. I couldn't even make it a week. lol.

I think im the one who sympathizes with you. I think this is, not only the opportunity we needed, but the opportunity the government probably will take to dish out a reform.

What I didn't clarify before is that my fear is that it will all come to a very high cost to us. And I don't mean money. I think, if things play out the way im predicting, that piece of crap law in AZ will spread to most states(mainly Red/Conservative states at first) and sometime at the end of this year or early next year (if were lucky), the gov will do something about immigration. But for the mean time, we will have to live with that damned law until they take action. And perhaps even have to endure the law while were in the process of the "path to citizenship", whatever that path may be once the reform finally comes. In other words, we will have to live in fear while we wait for the "path to citizen" process to finish, assuming the government doesn't give people under the process some sort of protection from being deported.

I mean... it's fucked up enough just to have that in one state... to think that all cops will become ICE. It's almost like the agents in the matrix, those guys are just multiplying without ever having the numbers. Idk about you guys, but in NY I see a cop every time I step foot out the door. I would be mortified if I had to look at the NYPD as ICE everyday.

ps. I know the thought of that law spreading and the prediction of shit hitting the fan and etc all sounds very pessemistic of me, but at this point its actually what the main stream media is indicating. I mean CNN basically has a headline saying "AZ to sign immigration law, other states waiting to see if they'll follow their footsteps..." I mean that's just plain saying "Be ready cause they wont be the only ones doing it".

I know what you mean the Matrix analogy is actually very suiting. Everytime I see a cop period I get really nervous, I can't possibly imagine having to worry about deportation every day when I see them. I can't say that Obama's administration is our only hope, but it sure it a strong hope. The amnesty in 1986 was under Ronald Reagan, the conservatives god. We can only hope that something similar is in store.
