Is the CIR effort real or just another a political game, you decide !
Quote:
"Reid obviously needs it to invigorate his base - Clark County Hispanics and union members. He needs to get those people invigorated and out voting and one way to do that is to get an immigration bill moving," a Democratic House committee staffer familiar with the immigration debate told me in an interview. The staffer asked for anonymity to be able to speak freely about the political nature of the issue.

"Either we do it for political show or we get a bill done. Either way we win," the staffer said. "If Republicans block us they will forever cement themselves as rural, white angry party, and that's fine either way. Hispanics will see on Telemundo and Univision the angry white people in the Republican blocking the American dream. Who wins? Democrats do."

Simon Rosenberg of progressive think tank NDN agreed it will be hard for Republicans to block an immigration bill since so many of them supported a comprehensive plan in 2006 in a GOP Senate and under a Republican president.

Rosenberg said Democrats would rather get something done this year and blamed in part the long health care debate that postponed something that topped their agenda. He thinks they are well positioned politically because they will either find legislative agreement and achieve something that's been talked about for years, or mount "a spirited advocacy effort to get Republicans to step up and play ball, knowing there is a chance they will walk." Either way, Latino voters will see that Democrats delivered on a promise to try, he said.

"They promised to try"... No they promised they would get something passed. This guy's think that just by starting a job they will get paid at the end of it? No way in hell, in the real world you have to do what you promised, and you have to finish it before you can get any benefit out of it. These people have to stop playing with our lives and actually get something done, or say "we are not right for this job, let us get out of the way for someone else to do it".

How is that a win-win for us? It's a win-win for them as in Democrats because they will get the future political support of the Latino community without working hard for it, but as always the people will lose-lose.

This was exactly what I was afraid the Democrats might be doing. The whole sudden shift seemed awfully suspicious when they have spoken hardly a word about immigration reform.

The philosopher is saddened that America is so lacking in real statesmanship at this moment in American history. Ugh.

This is a very interesting article or interview.
If Dems introduce a bill and its blocked by all republicans, They're gonna look as the bad guys for hispanics voters, and Dems will blame them in campaining ads.

Hope they can get something done.

ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME?

They're not working hard enough? Reid got 56 votes for your undocumented asses and you show your gratitude by complaining like sore hags. What the fuck is he supposed to do, kill a couple Republicans so they can have special elections in those red states, and then get Democrats to win those seats so he can get to 60 votes and prevent a Republican filibuster? Give me a break.

And now you are also complaining that Reid is bringing immigration up too soon? Last time I checked EVERYONE and their mother was demanding that Reid bring up a bill, and when he does, it's suddenly "suspicious"?

What the fuck do you people want?
