The intent behind this is obvious. It is just the CIR folks trying to deep-six DREAM. It is very tired and sad because you would think they would advocate any measure that offers anybody here illegally the chance to get legal.

As far as the other parts of this study about people who don't speak English well enough, or don't get a high-school degree, that is about like complaining that the DREAM act can't legalize people who came here after they were age 16, and adults that came here to work in the fields, etc. It will work very well for its intended purpose of legalizing people that can contribute to American society and are willing to do that by going to college or being in the military. The requirements are not that difficult to meet besides. What they are really complaining about is that this is not a CIR bill or mass amnesty.

These people can only hurt our cause, and they have been doing this since 2006.

If the Dream Act is about giving a chance to those who want one, then there is no excuse for those who can't even graduate from a community college with an English major degree which isn't hard to get.

It's not like the Dream Act is asking illegal minors to get advanced STEM degrees, so what's the excuse? An advanced STEM degree is what it would require a legal foreign student to get his/her green card under the CIR proposal.

Yes, I would get my green card either way, with Dream Act or a advanced STEM degree green card proposal, but the Dream Act version is no more difficult than graduating from a high school.

I really wish that Hatch would take the driver's seat on this issue, why?
- He is against CIR, so he won't push for it and won't feed BS that "Dream is a core component of CIR).
- He has to guts to go against his party's leadership (in 2003 he managed to squish Dream into a budget bill (sucks the bill ultimately failed).
- Has the republican can do attitude, not the democratic tip-topping around.

so true immigrant. somewhat saw the study. not a fan of it since it claims that those 35 and older would benefit if they have a college degree. that isn't true. it is really more for people like "immigrant" that already have their two years. so if that got that obvious thing wrong, what else do they have wrong?

so over a million people would get deported. for six years they would be able to drive, work, and have a normal life. they might even start a relationship that may end up in marriage/green card. and yes, we are saying we are the best of the best. if we can't cut it, then we don't.

is like with CIR. at the end of the day 5k dollars isn't much. but you try to have a fine of 2k and people are screaming bloody hell. any test they will have to take won't be difficult, but some will be screaming bloody hell and they will also look to get free/low cost class/legal help from the feds.
