Here are my two cents about why petitions are ineffective.

The reason why petitions don't work is because it is the most impersonal way of approaching a problem. One may be able to have a petition with 10,000 signatures from all over the country. But to a politician that doesn't mean much. After all each House member is responsible for 600,000 people from their district. If those people are not pushing for it, then that petition does not mean much to them.

I propose that you find a local group and join them. Go to our website (http://dreamact.info/advocacy/organizations) and put in your zip code at the top of the page of the Forum to find a local group near you. If there isn't one, contact me so I can give you ideas about how to form a group.

Actively organizing in our communities is the most important way you can help. I hope you found my advice helpful.
