Take Action on DREAM now
For Immediate Release

SENATE DOES NOT MOVE FORWARD WITH DEFENSE AUTHORIZATION BILL- DREAM ACT LEFT IN LIMBO

Today, the Senate chose not to move forward with discussion of the Defense Authorization Bill, which means that the Senate did not have the opportunity to add the DREAM Act as an amendment.

We are disappointed with the politicization of an issue that is clearly about education, hard work, and sacrifice. While we are well aware it is an election year, but we are not interested in our lives being manipulated as politicians make token demonstrations of support in order to win political points.

We would like to honor the wishes of the members who invoked procedure over the issues and call for Senator Harry Reid to offer the DREAM Act as a stand-alone bill. He has repeatedly stated his commitment to the DREAM Act, as has President Obama, and has reiterated time and time again that it is necessary and timely legislation. The DREAM Act is a truly American standard of reform based on hard work, sacrifice, and education, and we are confident we will pass this necessary piece of legislation before the congressional year is over. Now is the time for this country’s leaders to do what is right, and invest in America’s future.

Act now! Dial: 1-202-224-3121 and ask to speak with Senator Reid from NV: "Hi I am calling to ask that senator Reid stop playing politics with the DREAM Act. I am calling to ask that he immediately bring it up for a vote. Thank you."

Wait. Target adjournment for the senate is October 1st.

Are they going to have enough time to bring this to the floor as a stand-alone bill?

That's if they don't bail before that.

"Senate Democrats are seriously weighing whether to leave town at the end of next week, instead of staying in session until Oct. 7 or Oct. 8, as had been anticipated.

Senate Democratic Whip Dick Durbin (D-Ill.) said Democrats might pass a stop-gap spending measure to keep government funded beyond Sept. 30 and then go back to their home states to campaign."

we coulda had 62 firm votes today for the dream act if Sen Reid didnt add it to the defense bill. About 4 republicans voted no just because what it was attached to.. and they also mentioned on the floor that they are indeed strong dream act supporters.. i believe that if they bring DA as a stand alone it will pass 100%.. ******but they better do the defense bill b4 they do the DA****** the reason is that if they do the DA b4 the defense bill there gana say "the democrats just screwed the military funds which means now the military has no way of getting any funds and harry reid is focusing on illigals??" so we need to make sure he passes the defense authorization bill b4 hand!!!!
