Stephen Colbert to Testify in Washington: Comedy Central humorist Stephen Colbert is set to testify before a House subcommittee on immigration at 9:30 a.m. today. Yes, you heard that right. Colbert is scheduled to appear alongside United Farm Workers President Arturo Rodriguez, whose group initiated a campaign called “Take Our Jobs” that challenged U.S. citizens to replace immigrants in farm work. On last night’s edition of “The Colbert Report,” Colbert took the challenge, packing corn and picking beans to see if he could handle farm labor. As it turns out, he really can’t.

You can see the clip here.

That's awesome, but too bad he's not speaking out for DREAM Act.

Read the article!

Colbert says the following:
Quote:
Chu asks Colbert why, of all the issues he could talk about, or bring attention to, he decided to get involved in this issue. Colbert, for the first time today, drops out of character.

"I like talking about people who don't have any power...I feel the need to speak for those who can't speak for themselves....We ask them to come and work, and then we ask them to leave again. They suffer, and have no rights."

He also quotes Matthew 25:40: "The King will reply, 'I tell you the truth, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me.'"

what if we contact him and ask him to do a segment/support the dream act? Alot of people watch his show!!!

Updated with video link.

FYI Those commenters on Yahoo are hating on Colbert since he's speaking on behalf migrant workers =[

He will do it if he has good material.

It depends on the writers. Let the writers meet some DREAM students, so they can get their creative juices flowing and write a bit that Colbert can perform.

if that is the case then we could convince him pretty easily about the injustice done to the children of those workers who he worked alongside in the fields.
everyone send a letter to Stephen with your story so he can help the world know about our struggle

Wasn't there rumors that they were going to add ag-jobs bill with Dream Act and introduce it together? Whatever happened to that. Supposedly Mitch Mconnell would have supported it or something.

I saw a clip on fox news, really funny. All fox showed was him saying

"Its really hard" =(

The reporter cut off and said "Colbert claims more workers permits should be given to immigrants as they will probably end up taking the jobs anyways."
