So we all know that many people are misinformed about the DREAM act, right? Why don't we educate them? They post comments all the time that are just SO WRONG and believe they are right. We might not be able to change their opinions, but by stating data and facts that come from reliable sources throughout news websites can really help! Even better, let's leave comments on more biased, right wing news websites, such as Fox, because they may be the hardest, but they probably have the biggest misconceptions about this bill and what it means.

Can't leave emotional comments, though, or showing that it's a personal connection to us, because then they'll just say that since it would benefit us, we're making up information. Which we won't!! Leaving concise and clear information will work to our advantage.

There are facts and data and information, logical and reasonable proof, that supports the Dream Act! If even one person sees how misinformed they were, and change their opinions, or at least stop spreading wrong information, we could have another supporter, or at least one less person trying to contact their legislators to fight it.

I know it's not like going after the government, but it's a step

Please help me in informing "the mob" about the Dream Act!

The DREAM Act flyer is excellent, however, when we are responding to comments on a news article it usually not possible to post images, and in some occasion it is not easy to post a link to another site either, Furthermore, I find that it becomes very useful to answer directly to the comments people make, and the biggest challenge is to do so without appearing as a threat and eventually getting in discussion with those individuals to help dissuade their strong stance against the DREAM Act. We understand what the DA is about, we know what it is not, and we know how it affects and does not affect everyone, I think we could have significant ability to quote other sources without compromising how it personally affects us and risking that the people will shut their minds to our comments. Doing so I have on occasion actually gained the respect of the same individuals that are strongly against the DREAM Act, and while they may not change their stance, they don't really attack me as severely as they would someone else, and all because I do quote reliable sources of information, and I do make it known that I comprehend their fears and reasons for supporting the laws on their flawed arguments.

I have proposed this in the past and have been doing so under various pseudonyms, but recently I will stick to the same username I use on this site, I have created membership in various newspapers and found a couple lost dreamers of which I usually get about an e-mail two every couple months where they ask me for information on the DREAM Act detailing their situation in hopes that I could help. I help them and usually refer them to this site, whether they join or become one of the people that don't create an account but read all the comments does not matter, as long as they get informed and go to a place where the responses would be far more positive then some random place on the internet with very biased comments against immigrants.

Wikipedia isn't reliable, anyone can put any information and edit things, and I know that they do check them every now and then, but if I would be trying to argue against it I definitely would doubt Wikipedia. It would seem as if it's not concrete information.

That's what I was trying to do, and that's the reason why, I completely agree with buck (if I wasn't clear in the first post since I didn't go in-depth into my reasoning)

haha sounds like buck beat me to the punch, but please keep doing it!

just upload your flyer online. I could help you with the source. Most of the stuff posted on wikipedia could be traced to reliable sources such as NY Times, LA Times etc

We appreciate all the work that you have done, and it is a very informative and well structured flyer, maybe it could be used to be faxed to senators that claim that they don't have enough time to read the DA, or directly to a media source to see if they are willing to post it somewhere where people could see it and get informed about the DA, or mass printed and used in the manner flyers are commonly used, stick it on cars, doors and hand it around to people, thus a group of activists that is out and around the neighborhood informing people verbally could use something like that flyer.

The only concern I have with the flyer is the last line where the source was determined to be wikipedia. Wikipedia is a great resource but its not always going to be the same so what you got from there today might not be there tomorrow and someone against the dream act might change details such that many people that go there could see misinformation before it gets rectified, however, it is an excellent source of resources, maybe cite the places wikipedia cites for the information that you took, namely the list of requirements would be the DA itself from a congressional site, the extra details could be this group of dreamers or there are also other external links with tons of information, they even cite a paper focusing on who the beneficiaries are.

Despite that I don't think I could have been able to develop such a well structured flyer and it does have to be distributed to other people somehow.
