He was right about the part of preventing the deportation of parents. So their arguement will be that you aren't just helping out the kids, you are rewarding the parents for sneaking kids into the country. They will put that and the age part, I predict.

Yeah but even if you sponsor your parents that'll take a very long time. There's the 6 years when you basically can't do anything, then Permanent residency, which means your parents have an even longer waiting time, then 5 years till you could even apply for citizenship to speed up the process.

Yeah but there is also a provision for "family unity" that prevents your family from getting deported if you sign up

And to be quite honest with you, they can do what they want with my family if they give me the dream act. They placed me in this aweful situation and lied to me about it for years. I won't shed a tear.

Sounds a bit harsh...but if they want to prevent chain migration, then they should just make it so DREAMERS can't petition any family member. This should address the immediate students that are in need, it wasn't their fault, it was the parents fault. As cruel as this sounds, the parents shouldn't be rewarded.....at least not in this law, they should be given a chance but in CIR.

lol harsh but i get it.

But in a couple of days we'll see if Dems are serious or not. I was wondering if they have enough time to settle on a version they like. The senate acts like high schooler's.

@ Manny the DA itself doesn't allow family petitions from what i understand. The problem only comes about when dreamers are eligible for Permanent residency etc. If your a PR or USC you have that right to petition for family under law.
