In the link he posted above....it says that 2.1 million people are eligible but only about 825,00 people will get the permanent residency in the end.....can any1 elaborate?

Dude, that is retarded...that will not happen! If you have a green card you are a RESIDENT, not conditional resident...the big difference between a Green Card and Citizenship is that you can vote if you are a citizen....

you will be a conditional resident. After the time has passed, you can have the "conditional" part taken off and you become a permanent resident. Then you can apply to become a citizen.

A green card = Permanent Resident
I can't believe how many people here know so little about this...all you have to do is look it up quickly online...

But you are right Feenmi, you don't get a green card right away, but once you do, then you are a permanent resident, if you get pulled over you won't get it taken away!
