Illegal immigrant students say they are ready to shed blood over the "DREAM Act" — literally.

Students are planning to donate blood Friday at Harvard University and other college blood drives. It's part of a nationally organized effort to push a federal proposal in the current Congress that would give some a pathway to citizenship through college enrollment or military service.

The immigrant students say the blood donations show they are ready to perform community service and actively demonstrate that they are part of U.S. society.

Similar immigrant blood donations have taken place in California, Kansas, Kentucky, Missouri, Texas and Virginia.

Red Cross spokeswoman Stephanie Millian says blood donors need to show identification, but blood collection workers don't check immigration status.

Ha many of us would also give an arm and a leg. We can't really use them without the Dream Act.

Yeah lol maybe that was a bit much. But hey, what else can we give? We love the country, its citizens, we want to contribute to its society and be part of it, and some even want to go ahead and serve in the military. And on top of that we have to fulfill lots and lots of requirements only to maybe one day after 10 years of its enactment be able to qualify to become permanent residents (AND NOT CITIZENS). What else is there to give? Our souls? WHY DON'T THEY JUST PASS IT?

I'm one of the oldest activists and beneficiaries that would still qualify under the latest version of the DA. And as time has passed it is just getting harder and harder to understand the people that don't want it passed. Its always excuse after excuse and I really don't want to think they are just very bad people.
