You can get private loans.

omg why are people asking for "money" right now, when the dream act is too important. Beggars can't be choosers.

You can only do one or the other. If you had gotten married and he filed a petition, you no longer qualify for DA because you already have a petition pending. Then, you will get your citizenship thru that process, in which case, it wouldn't matter whether or not DA passes. It also works the other way around. DA petitions/application hinders all others when it is processed.

And Dreamer12, comments like yours are setting us back and the opposition are using them against us.

People need to stop commenting about finding loopholes/shortcuts on obtaining citizenship. It makes us look worse to them than we already do. Deal with it after you legalize with DREAM. It's really getting out of hand.
I don't think Dreamer12 was trying to "find a loophole". There's nothing wrong with asking how the bill affects our eligibility to receive citizenship through another process later on. I for one KNOW I am getting married in less than 10 years, maybe even 5. If DREAM restricts me from applying for citizenship through my husband for the entire 10 years of conditional non-immigrant status, then there's no way in hell I'm even applying for DREAM Act if it passes. It would be absolutely ridiculous.

Don't be so quick to judge.

Reading comprehension goes a long way. I didn't call out Dreamer12 on "loopholes." It was a comment made for others in this thread who were asking if there were some and for future comments. It really does make us look bad, I don't care what anyone says or which thread we're in.

And yes, DREAM will restrict you from it. It is one way or another, and you've chosen yours.

I agree that trying to find loopholes makes us look bad, but it's important to know the details and what you're getting yourself into so that you're aware of your options. Just like I was aware of mine and have now made my decision.

Which brings up another question: Since the 10 years are separated into 2 segments of 5, am I right in assuming that you can apply for the first 5 and then opt out for the second without any problems?

People, let's get to work on those phones and faxes. You can worry about the provisions later.

I just want to be able to get back into retail and get out of my god-forsaken hellhole of a job that is just as hot and just as punishing everyday. I'll be happy if I can just get a normal job.
