Democrats can count on Sen. Ron Wyden, Ore., for a scheduled vote this Saturday on the repeal of “don’t ask, don’t tell,” following a prior announcement that he would miss some final votes due to surgery for early-stage prostate cancer.

Wyden expects a full recovery, but he plans to undergo surgery Dec. 20 – making the path to 60 votes more difficult for Democrats in the final days of this lame-duck session. Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid plans to complete an ambitious agenda during that time and scheduled votes for cloture on both the DREAM Act immigrant bill and repealing “don’t ask, don’t tell” Saturday morning
