He largely has won, however anemic and viatiated, most of the major reforms he ran on. CIR or any other immigration reform was never realistic till 2012 as the former chief of staff (Emmanual) pointed out in 2009 or high on his administrations priority.

The idea of overhauling the health care bill is in large measure empty rhetoric (enunicated by the likes of Boehner and others-- and they know it), except perhaps by trying this or that component as unconsitutional in the higher couts, for anyone remotely acquainted with the myriad of gridlocks and legislative barriers that have to be overcome.

But i take your larger point of suspending belief untill there is some evidence on which to base it upon other than expressions of sympathy and promises of action.
Again Obama lost all power in the last election if you have no control to write bills, fund bills, send bills to committee, send bill to the senate to vote on you are a completely impotent president. Not even going into losing the right to redistrict the whole country to the Republicans so they can break up every democratic stronghold district for the next ten years. And yes the conservative supreme court will largely gut the the Health Care bill because the commerce clause does not allow you the right to make a citizen pay for health insurance it is not like auto insurance because Driving is a privilege not a right.,Then what is left of it Republican house and senate will not fund it like there going to do this budget in March with the first funding of Health care. I get tired of people that point out facts being called pessimist you have to develop a new plan of action based on facts that does nothing but kiss up to the republicans and take what they will give and do it in a polite way. What we have done to this point is try to tell people what were going to do them and then tell them what we demand and look what we got for it. We are now realistically 25 votes away in the senate from even getting to 60 to vote for a Dream Act, that is if the majority republican house will let it get to the senate. We have pissed off more moderate Americans and anti immigrants than ever before .I have never seen such viral dialogue in blogs such as the respected "The Hill" "Roll Call" against immigration ever. Then to see you say Obama has won the guy that told us with a majority in the house and senate would have this done in his first year? Time to stop the Rah Rah and time to go in a different direction to get things done. It is time to keep quiet fight it in the courts and have every rah rah advocacy group and representative change there tone or this could even get worse. Realism is the first key to getting a advantage in anything. Or we can keep doing what we are doing it has got us so close to our goal.

and anti immigrants than ever before

Hello everyone. I can understand why some people are "pessimistic"/"realistic" with the chances of the DREAM Act in the next congress--especially with these types of articles. However, I would be cautious with this work, which is undoubtedly manipulative. The title should have been "Passing of DREAM Act is very unlikely in next Congress, THREE Republicans say." I ask everyone to hope for the best and know that compromise can be possible. It's not like the Washington Post, although a credible source, released a signed letter revealing that ALL Republicans would oppose any immigration overhaul. Plus, inflexible legislators like Sessions, Smith, and Graham should not be considered as the entire GOP.

Out of curiosity, who in their right mind would vote for Sessions? I mean this guy seems to lie about things he opposes, lack charisma, reminds me of Bob Dole, and can't speak for beans.

I'd prefer to have a sensible debate with Jeff Sessions. Yes he is very very radical and harsh towards immigrants but at least he's not fake. It's the likes of Graham, McCain, and Hatch that get my blood to a boiling point. All these senators have supported immigration reform. Hatch was a cosponsor off the Dream Act while McCain and Graham have LED the way for Comprehensive Immigration Reform in the past. McCain actually introduced a bill with the late Senator Kennedy of Massachusetts. How can you justify being against immigration reform now? This won't even make sense to a first grader.

Pay attention to whats been happening legislatively the last 2 years. You will know what we won. Dont be a fake democrat just because this immigration issue effects you personally. Realize what being a democrat is about. Spend the time to learn about govt and what you stand for. Dont just stop caring after you get your papers.

He lost a democratic majority in the house and senate the biggest loss in in nearly 20 years.

Losing the house isnt as big a deal you may think it is. Losing power in the senate was a bigger deal, but we didnt lose majority. When you think of senate democrats, Dont think majority. We didnt lose our 60 supermajority votes. We had 60 Dems in name but not in votes. We never had a supermajority to begin with in the senate.... even though the media claimed we did. We had Lieberman, Ben Neslson, and a whole bunch of other blue dog Dems. We DID NOT lose the main democrats in the Senate. We lost outliers , the Blue Dog democrats. They were the weak hands anyway that would not have voted for the Dream Act. You guys think just because they are democrats they are likely to vote for this bill. A bunch of Dems didnt vote for it fyi.

Democrats still have the majority in the senate. The senate is where most of the power for passing legislation is dealed with. As you may know Dream Act passed the house. It will most likely pass the conservative house in this coming year. I have always said, we need both parties to agree on the Dream Act. You cannot shove it through. It will fail.

He no longer has any power to do any of the things he got passed because its the republicans that will write the bills in the House.

Republicans and democrats will be writing the bills. Get used to a congress that will have both democratic ideals as well as republican bills. Otherwise the new republicans as well as more democrats will be voted out in the next 2 years. Its already happening. Mitch McConnel is being forced to negotiate with Dems. Classic Example was the Tax Bill. That was a hard thing for the republicans to swallow. You want your Tax Free wealthy people? Well you have to have a bunch of Dem bills with it.

Health bill overturned.

Health Bill overturned? Hmmm, lets assume the house gets some kind of repeal bill passed. Which could happen... I admit. But then.. it has to go to the senate. Now for the Senate to get 60 Votes to repeal the bill is sooo unlikely. The chances are almost 0. But lets assume the republicans get the 60 votes. It now goes to Obama. Do you think Obama is going to repeal his own law? Well he will Veto it. It then comes back to the senate upon being vetoed. The Senate would now have to muster 75 Votes to override the presidents vote. Which is impossible. Healthcare law is here to stay.

Trusting Obama is being a sucker what is the saying you fool me once you are asking to be fooled several more times.

Who would you rather trust? Obama or Sarah Palin, or John McCain? I think you will be trusting the president again.

Please look at how bills are brought up in the house and bills are brought to the house floor. If you think there going to let the minority Nancy Pelosi have any say in anything about bill being written you did not watch the last two years or the election. Pelosi has zero power the majority writes the bills and decides which bills go to the senate. Democrats and Republicans are gong to write bills are kidding. The majority in the senate is a few votes so if the president fails which is what the republicans want they dont have to do anything and say look what obama did.
