This ccould be very good news to us Dreamers. If the Filibuster Reform passes or becomes reality in the new congress filibustering a new version of the DA will be harder. Also all democrat senators are backing up this idea and my guess alot of republican will because they will like their future bills passed also so its a win win for most as I see it. I read on another article that if this reform passes these will be the changes:

1 To pass filibuster will change from 60 to 55 votes which is really good.
2. Opposing senators will have to speak on their opposition on the bill.
3. No hiding behind quorum calls.

If anyone has more info on this topic feel free to inform all of us Dreamers as my research on this was breief !

Didn't Obama say he's abandoning Filibuster reform in another article in here?

No to be negative, but how would this affect DA passage in the future? I don't think it really matters anymore considering republicans will be holding a majority in the house of reps for the next 2 years. Why wasn't filibuster reform talked before the elections?

Well I think this is a bad time to pass it. Democrats lost the house and they lost 5 senate seats (and some of the 6 nos are still in the next congress).

It would have passed in September when it was attached to the Defense Bill. Also, the original version was more fair. It would have required only 6 years to become citizens and the age cap was 35.

Even if the filibuster reform passes, the DA has a slim chance of passing. The Democrats are down to 51 in the Senate and 193 in the House. We really need Republicans to help us pass the bill either way.

To pass the Filibuster bill in the Senate, does the Senate need 60 votes to avoid the Filibuster?
