It's either they appeal to the voters or die as a party. But then again, I doubt any GOPr really cares about the future of the party. As long as they have their seat right now, they're good.
#truth. It's just so sickening.

Graham says immigration reform is in infant stage.
It always has been for past 10 years, fool!!
I bet Schumer and Graham haven't even write anything specific for now, and they are saying "oh, we are working on it right now". Sounds like a typical American salaryman responding to his/her boss - that's why this country is so jacked up now.
The same applies to Obama - I will wait until Dems and Repubs work something out together.
I hope American people blame their work ethic and attitude instead of scapegoat everything on immigration.

Lesson here is don't get your hopes up. If the most conservative Dream Act version couldn't pass in the Senate, it is unlikely that CIR will pass in Republican controlled house. This is going according to Obamas plan. Schumer + Graham bill = Bipartisan effort to gain votes in 2012...everyone wins because Immigrant community will feel that at least they worked on Immigration. The cycle then continues.

true. If DA didn't get through, how can CIR go through?
It is crazy to have any hope on CIR this year.

CIR may actually have a better chance. IF a bipartisan deal is achieved by Schumer, Graham et. al. , it will most likely include two vital components that the mainstream republicans (Newt, Mitt, Jeb - insert more camp) care about. One of them is the border security component and the other one is a workable guest worker amendment. A stand alone DA unlikely to have those components included.

We should know by now that the stand-alone DA is not the most strategic path for us.

*now allow me to brace for the verbose version of the molotov cocktail shower*

It's so obvious that this issue is very low on Congress' priority list of Bills, why bother even mentioning it at all?
I will always dislike that phrase (political appetite, political will, etc.). Now that, along with 'border security first', will be the excuse we hear as to why immigration will not be dealt with. I bet they'll have the political will to try and court (lie to) the Latino and immigrant communities when election time rolls around, though.

Why bother voting for someone who is clearly not serious about finding a solution to a major issue that greatly affects not just the Hispanic community but the Immigrant community in general? makes no sense to me.

How about Extending 245i? At least pass something that can help a good amount of the immigrant population....

Whatever happened to the Immigration Reform within the "first 100 days" of office promise he made which attracted a lot of immigrant votes in the first place during the 08' elections?
As my mother would say, "It died a natural death". DREAM was supposed to have been passed in the first year of his administration, but they decided to work on HCR.

Going on television and telling us you support immigration reform may be enough for now, but it won't be enough forever. Extending 245i, DREAM Act, AgJobs, are all things that could have been done to at least let the immigrant community know that the Democrats hear us and remember that without those votes they would not have had the majority that they did in Congress or have won the presidency.
