Can you explain to me how CIR/DA is dead? Republicans played the politcal games last year with DA and now its costing them an election in 2012. Those anti-immigrants is a result not getting the CIR/DA passed at a Federal level. I seriously think CIR/DA will pass in a few months.

And I seriously hope the miracle you're talking about happens but I just don't see the House passing the bill. They're going to bring up a bill and it will be voted down and the hispanic community will feel like they at least tried to do immigration. Politics never ends.

We don't need a Miracle. Miracle would be Obama doing the EO.

Na a miracle would be Obama saying, "I will pass CIR legislation this year" instead of saying, "Look, I believe this country is built on immigration and I look forward to building on this consensus with Democrats and Republicans in the coming weeks blah blah blah"

Hats off to Reagan for following through with immigration reform being a Republican.

Why didn't she put pressure on her husband to convince members of his OWN PARTY in the Senate to vote for the DA during the Lame Duck, what is she talking about???!!!
+1

I like Mrs. O, but she gets a major side eye on these comments. Democrats had a super majority for two years and did nothing for immigration reform other than get on television and tell us that they are for it and Republicans are against it. I want to see how long that's going to go over well with immigration advocates that backed Obama and the Democrats in 2008 and I want to see them continue to ignore the Latino and immigrant communities come 2012.

I agree with you. I don't know why but I have feeling that CIR/DA has good chances of passing under GOP President. Beacause if GOP president will push for it then surly half of republicans line up in suport of it an most Democrates alredy there to suport it. Just like it happen with BUSH. Then I think about 2nd term of OBAMA when he can takes politicale risk and do what BUSH did in his last days.

The way things are going right now, I wouldn't be surprised if the issue is dealt with during the last few weeks of Obama's second term which will be too late. The man couldn't pass the most conservative version of the Dream Act..There is no way he has the will to pass CIR.

its all true, and i bet obama could have more easily passed an immigration bill than that healthcare bill which thanks to health insurers no one liked, atleast he'd have gotten thanks for passing DA unlike other efforts which no ones ever gonna thank him for and heavily affected his popularity,

but besides the point, the argument is also valid, hispanics could be a bit more involved and especially for putting pressure on the GOP, all they care about is votes, and if they saw promise in those votes, im sure they'd start getting rid of all the bat shit crazies that currently rule the game, its incredible how they aint embarrassed that thats the current face of their 'conservative' party

I wonder how she sleeps at night when that little girl that asked about immigration reform comes to mind. That child lives in fear everyday that she'll come home and her family will be gone. But, that's fine Mrs. Obama. Hope she really gets to help all of those overweight kids.
