A proposal to crack down on illegal Immigration in Michigan is sparking debate at the state Capitol.

A coalition campaigned against the proposal Tuesday. Opponents say the bill would create a climate of fear and division.

Opponents and supporters of the bill have different interpretations of what the measure introduced last week would mean if it became law.

Opponents say it would allow police to stop and arrest people solely on the suspicion they may be in the U.S. illegally.

Republican Rep. Dave Agema of Grandville, who introduced the bill, says that is not the case. He says law enforcement officers would work to determine the Immigration status of a person only if a person is stopped on suspicion of a different violation.

Just like sb1070, this will get shut down.
And if it doesn't, it's alright, it just adds more fuel to the fire to get things moving towards a REAL fix to the problem.
They can't keep creating laws to support a broken system.

Only Obama can relieve the immigrant community from this tightening noose. Soon they will pass a bill which would make it a crime for the undocumented to breathe in American oxygen. There is no sense of humanity in this country. Gotta feel for those folks brought here when they were so young.

Obama ain't doing shiet and he won't even when he gets re-elected. Not only in immigration issues but other issues like Social Security and taxing the top 1% wealthiest

Well, obviously they can as they have been trying to over the past year. What I meant is that they won't get very far since the whole system is broken. It's like beating a dead horse.
