Yeah, sure we'll get State Aid, Health Insurance AND Driver Licenses; while a couple of years ago, when the political climate was no where near as bad, a governor on a mission couldn't even get the licenses bill to pass.

This is just fucking nuts. I'll be thankful if NY doesn't pass a bill that worsens my situation, and some people think this might actually pass.
Well, we all know ANY bill it's almost impossible to pass. This is the dream act portal, so whether we feel certain bills have chances of passing or not, it's good to always know what's going on. Educational purposes ONLY.

I strongly agree. Just give us "WORK OPPORTUNITIES WITH THE STATE OF NEW YORK" and take out the rest... sigh

Guess who's going to be voting on this Bill.... That's right! Same people who voted "nay" on the DREAM Act a couple months ago, plus more!

Kind of impossible since this is a state bill, unless we are in business of demoting federal senators to state legislatures now.

The only thing that has a chance of passing is some sort of an ID if they really put some seriously good enough spin on it in the media. The rest of the bill is just a bunch of welfare provisions, even the jobs with the state of new york. The salaries would technically be covered using taxpayers money, which people won't agree with, and the state has projected a $10B deficit already, so the salaries aren't even backed by an actual product and this would lead to even higher deficit spending.

Yeah, here's an update:

When the bill was posted, there were 8 sponsors/co-sponsors, now there are 14. All Democrats. The bill is here:

http://open.nysenate.gov/legislation/bill/S4179-2011

- Please consider posting a positive comment at the bottom.
- Please consider physically mailing state senators who are not already sponsors/co-sponsors. List of them is available here: http://www.nysenate.gov/senators -- They get a lot less mail than US Senators, so they may have a bit more time to read letters and get updates from their staff who read the letters. Don't put a return address if you're paranoid, or put some other return address.
- Don't bother contacting Ball, he is like the Jeff Sessions of the NY State Senate.

I'm not too optimistic about it passing because there are more Republicans than Democrats in the state senate, but let's give it a go, I guess.
