I hope they refuse to hear the case. What happens if they hear it and it is upheld? Does it mean that all of the 50 states would be able to give us cheaper tuition?

I'm really worried about this! Doesn't the U.S Supreme court leans Conservative? There's a real chance instate tuition could be overturned.

If they choose to hear it, then it's very bad news. I don't really see how anyone can argue for not enforcing an already existing law, especially if the law doesn't violate the constitution. I guess people who are for in-state tuition can argue that the 14th amendment is supposed to apply to all people who live in a state, but residency and immigration have long been held to be something that congress can fully regulate as they see fit. Considering how SCOTUS has been rather conservative lately, it's highly likely that they will say that the states have no right to give in-state tuition to illegals.

With legislative deadlines looming before the May 30 end of the session, Democrats could try to filibuster the sanctuary cities bill, but that could take down hundreds of other bills as well. Van de Putte said Democrats haven't talked about a filibuster. And she said Democrats aren't considering leaving the state to break a quorum like they did in 2003 to stop a congressional redistricting bill.

My support for Democrats - ANY Democrat - gets more eroded with each passing day. How the f***k do they not research or investigate, or READ every applicable regulation that may affect their legislation? It's the same effing story time after time: Republican lawmakers know or research all applicable laws in order to advance their agenda. I can only deduce that these Democratic lawmakers are mediocre. I see that they are all LAWYERS. First job of any attorney: Know the law in every possible applicable way. This is like the relief provided by Deferred Action that people are asking the government to grant: It has been in the books for DECADES as a "little known rule". It wouldn't be "little known" if mediocre attorneys would read and understand the application of this law. What a disservice to their constituents.
Republicans did not even have to use this political side step here in Texas it was done to make the legislation pass faster. Democrats do not hold enough power to stop anything right now in Texas look at the numbers were screwed. I keep posting this on here because it is so important hoping people understand what has happened in my State.
