Agreed. Regardless, it's best not to get caught at all. Politics is crazy; you never know what next year will bring.

I hope that you are right on this one. I truly hope so.

You don't get deported in LA for driving without a license.

Once this is settled, we have to make a section on what signifies trouble and what does not. That way we can all be aware of what qualifies as a serious offense, or like they like to call it, be of "good moral character". Like, what if some of us have used you know documents to obtain jobs and stuff.

Places where you will be (if driving without a license gets you arrested instead of detained): http://www.ice.gov/news/library/fact...htm#signed-moa

Here's a good guide to "good moral character." If y'all want to move it elsewhere, feel free:

Man, it sucks that only people in removal proceedings get a work permit. On other hand, this might encourage Republicans to compromise on a Dream act?

For some reason, this quasi-Realpolitik will probably do a much better job at bringing Republicans to the table than being all soft and mushy. Obama needs to take responsibility for his actions and be strong; by doing this, he can start proving that he is. Republicans will complain like hell; at the end of the day, they now know that a verbal firestorm will mean nothing in the long run.

I'm not so sure this is the case....the way it sounds is that yeah, there are 300k ppl awaiting deportation and in removal procedeeings so these are the main beneficiaries. But once they catch your ass you become part of that statistic. At least to me that's how it sounds.
