Associated Press

WASHINGTON – President Barack Obama is telling Hispanics he is ready to sign a bill that would allow illegal immigrant students a path to citizenship, a measure he calls a "common-sense" reform.

Speaking at a Cinco de Mayo reception in the Rose Garden, Obama blamed the failure of the Dream Act on a few Republicans in Congress. He says he will keep pushing for it, along with other fixes to what he calls the nation's "broken" immigration system.

Cinco de Mayo celebrations at the White House have become annual features under recent presidents. This one takes on added significance in an election year as Obama courts the Latino vote for his re-election.

Though a majority of Hispanic voters favor Obama, many have been frustrated by his lack of progress on immigration reform

Calling him a piece of shit won't help. If someone else were the president, the situation would be similar.

He doesn't have the ability to control people's minds geez give it a break. Not every democrat is pro amnesty, as not every Republican is against the DA, but those who were for it like Mccain backed out for fear of loosing conservative supporters. Ease up on the people who are trying to help you.

If Obama really wanted to help he would have passed this in the beganing of his first term like ke said he would. But instead he wasted all his political capital on that stupid healthcare bill.

Its all politics with this guy, nothing else...

It is definately NOT Romney. Romney has said he would veto it. Obama is the best option.

The nerve of you people. The world does not revolve around the dreamers let alone the United States. If any politician ran primarily because he wanted to help us he would be the biggest idiot in the world. Obama is doing his job. I am not ignorant enough to think he is my savior nor do I think Romney will support Rubio's proposal. You guys need to realize the politicians are going to deal with the economy, healthcare, and 10 more things before they help us. Be grateful that we are even in their breath. For those who think that Rubio is your savior you may be extremely disappointed come it's release. How many of you think you're gonna be helped by it? Because from the look of all the talk if it is not strict it will not garner Republican support, and if it is too strict only a fraction of us will benefit. Is that fair?

"world does not revolve around the dreamers " ?? over ten years in congress and the bill still has not passed. Then when Omama has a chance to push this rather easy bill through he does nothing???

It's not like the push for the dream act started last month....
